October 2019
The Coordinator on National Implementation Measures (New Zealand), in collaboration with the Coordinator on Transparency Measures (Iraq), organized an event themed “A Decade of the Cluster Munitions Convention: its Past, Present and Future” on 16 October 2019 in the margins of the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly First Committee. The meeting gathered 31 participants from 22 States Parties, the Cluster Munition Coalition (CMC) and the ISU.
June 2019
New Zealand, Coordinator on National Implementation Measures, in collaboration with the Philippines, organized the Asia-Pacific regional workshop that took place in Manila, Philippines on 18-19 June 2019. The event gathered 13 countries—8 States not Party (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Mongolia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Vietnam) and 5 States Parties (Lao PDR, New Zealand, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Switzerland). Presentations given and exchanges held to inform States not Party on the key articles of the Convention, the accession process, the available resources and the experience of States Parties in joining and implementing the CCM. The ISU, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Cluster Munition Coalition (CMC) were also in attendance as expert resources. The workshop was made possible through the generous contribution of New Zealand and Switzerland and the in-kind support provided by the Philippines.

February 2019
29 States Parties indicated in their Article 7 transparency reports that they have adopted specific national legislation to implement the Convention on Cluster Munitions.
New Zealand, in its capacity as Coordinator on National Implementation Measures, prepared a collection of these national laws which can be accessed here.
October 2018
The Coordinator for National Implementation Measures, New Zealand, with the support of the Coordinator for Transparency Measures, Iraq, and the CCM Implementation Support Unit hosted a closed lunchtime meeting on the implementation of the Convention on Cluster Munitions on Thursday 11 October 2018 at the Permanent Mission of New Zealand to the United Nations in New York. This event took place in the margins of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly First Committee on Disarmament and International Security.
Six invited States Parties participated in this meeting to discuss the implementation of Article 7 (Transparency Measures) and Article 9 (National Implementation Measures) of the Convention. Participants were introduced to the tools and support available to assist in meeting these two key Convention obligations. During the meeting, the ISU provided them with general information on the Convention, and specifically on the submission of transparency reports via the established reporting system; and New Zealand presented the tools and assistance available to assist States Parties in complying with their Article 9 obligations, including a model legislation that has been made available in all six UN languages. New Zealand also highlighted the importance of States Parties including information on implementing legislation in their initial and annual reports.
The States Parties present at the meeting committed to following up on the submission of their initial or annual transparency reports and enacting legislation to implement the CCM domestically, as required by the Convention.
February 2018
Pacific countries met in Auckland on 12-14 February 2018 in order to take stock and advance implementation of three treaties dealing with conventional weapons: the Arms Trade Treaty (2013), the Convention on Cluster Munitions (2008) and the Convention on the prohibition of the use, stockpiling and transfer of antipersonnel mines (1997).
The meeting was sponsored by New Zealand, CCM Coordinator on National Implementation Measures, and Australia and supported by the three Geneva-based Implementation Support Units (ATT, APMBC and CCM). The meeting was also attended by the International Committee of the Red Cross and civil society representatives.
14 Pacific States participated in the meeting: Australia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

The Coordinator on National Implementation Measures (New Zealand), in collaboration with the Coordinator on Transparency Measures (Zambia), organized a side event on 17 October in the margins of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) First Committee in New York. Invited States Parties attended this informal meeting to discuss obligations stemming from Article 7 (Transparency Measures) and Article 9 (National Implementation Measures) of the Convention.
May 2017
The Coordinator on National Implementation Measures (New Zealand) along with the Coordinators on Universalization (France and Zambia) organized the CCM Ratification Seminar in Kampala, Uganda, on 29-30 May. The seminar was made possible through the generous contribution of the government of New Zealand and in-kind support of the government of Uganda.
